It's Time to Clean the Mirror!

Opportunities to pray with folks really bless our hearts. A lady asked Danny and I to pray for her son. He was willing and Danny prayed. As Danny was praying I pictured this young man standing at the mirror in the morning. When Danny was through praying we talked. “When you stand at the mirror in the morning, look at yourself and declare to God, ‘I am a man of God.’ Declare it daily, for that is who you are. You may not feel like a man of God, you may not look like a man of God, but if you are born again God says that’s who you are”.

Often we look in the mirror and what we see is our circumstances. We see sorrow, pain, defeat, anger, hurts. Other times we look and we see what others say about us. We see useless, castoff, reject, mistake, loveless. Both views are imperfect. Both views are flawed. Both views are ultimately from the enemy of our soul who likes to obscure our view of truth with his lies.

God knows your imperfections, your failings, your helplessness and hopelessness. Without His touch on the mirror of your heart and mind, you will always have a hard time seeing yourself the way God sees you. If you keep glancing around at other mirrors you will only see their view. But the view from God’s mirror is His Word and even when things are rough, when people fail, when you are given no hope, no help, no friendship, no fellowship, no promise, God’s promises remain. And the truth about you is who you are in Christ – nothing else, nothing less, nothing more.

It’s time to clean the mirror! Wash it with the water of the Word! Remove the death words written across it and replace it with life Words from the Throne room of Grace. The more you speak God’s truth over yourself, over your life, over your circumstances, over others’ pronouncements about you, the more you will believe God.

Oh beloved, God loves you! God sees the real you and He cares about you. He’s already pronounced blessings and honor upon you. He’s already wiped the past view clean, made the present view lovely and has provided for a future of glory and honor. Even if you failed yesterday to believe, behave and become, He says today is your day to see the Truth in the mirror and live in the light of His Word.

Run to the Words of life and speak them into the mirror of your heart. Refer to them over and over again. If you will allow Him, God will make the Truth become your Truth and you will live loved and know you are cared for always.

2 Corinthians 3:18 So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like Him as we are changed into His glorious image.

Psalm 71:8 That is why I can never stop praising You; I declare Your glory all day long.

2 Corinthians 5:21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (NAS)

Ephesians 1:4 Even before He made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in His eyes.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.
